Is it a Windows laptop? Do you mean the password to get into Windows or a BIOS
boot password?
If it is the windows password there are a number of utilities out there for
getting the password reset, the one I tend to use is the offline NT Password
and Registry Editor - http://www.chntpw.com/download/
You do need to read the instructions but it is quite straight forward to use.
If it is the BIOS password depending on the manufacturer there may be a tool to
reset it.
If all else fails if the hard drive is still good you could put it in a USB
hard drive case and attach it to another PC to get the data from it.
