A region on a web page can be labelled with a landmark role, such as navigation,
search, main, or content info. This allows the user of a screen reader to know
the function of a region of the page, for example this region of the page is
the main content of the page, or this region is for navigation and probably
contains a list of links. Screen readers also have keystrokes for moving to the
next and previous landmark region on the page, so you can easily browse what
regions have been labelled on the page, and find the region that you want.
If you're using Jaws, then the keystrokes for the next and previous landmark
are semi-colon and shift+semi-colon. If you're using nvda, they are d and
shift+d.
