Clive, tell her not to bother. I have a Nexus 7, a very nice little tablet, but I also have the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7. I have used the Kindle Fire far more than the Nexus because it has pretty much everything I want to use it for built in and also has a better battery life than the Nexus.

Nothing wrong with the Nexus itself, though, just prefer using the Kindle Fire now although you are limited to using the Amazon apps instead of those from Google Play Store, although there are ways around this if you fiddle a bit.

Hello Steve,

I take it that's any variant of Kindle Fire or HD on the market (HD6/7 or whatever).

Interestingly, my sighted partner has a Kindle Fire, and is thinking of getting a tablet, because she's heard so much about them...so I'll now be able to tell her she's already got one!

Best,

Clive

Hi Clive,

Kindle Fire HD or Fire I believe. They are basically Android tablets. They use Talkback but call it Amazon Screen Reader.

All the best

Hello all,

I hear that if you have a Kindle Fire, Kindle E-Books which are shown as 'speech not enabled' will still be spoken. Is this true, and if so, what are the best models to go for in terms of things like accessibility of the touchscreen?

Thanks,

Clive
