This has happened to me as well and I had to restore my iTunes library manually.

You may want to Google this but the steps from memory were something like this.

1. Make sure iTunes is not running.
2. Go to your iTunes   Folder in Windows Explorer.
3. Find the file called iTunes Library.itl
4. For safety's sake you may want to copy and back up this file though it seems fairly certain it is faulty
5. Rename this file to something like faulty library file.
6. Now go to the folder in your itunes folder called Previous iTunes libraries
7. Here you will find several iTunes library files with dates included in the filename.

8. Copy a file with a date where you know your library was working properly from the previous Libraries folder into the main iTunes Folder.
9. Rename this file iTunes Library.itl.
10. Finally you can start up iTunes and your library should be repaired.

Hi, I'm not sure because the music is there but is not in the library, it's
Itunes that has gone kaput or something like Itunes will, there is a tab
missing which used to say my music but that has now vanished....

Hello,
Would a restore point, by any chance, work for you? If yes, bring up the run
dialog, with windows-r, type in RSTRUI, (not case sensitive) and run the
latest restore point. Screen reader will return after system restore is
complete, which means no sighted interaction is needed.

Hi Guys,
I had to switch off my computer this afternoon, it was all working
fine, and when I opened Itunes after my restart everything had
changed, I have over
9000 songs that I have copied into my itunes library from CD's, in
fact it's my whole music library. All it said was sign into the Itunes
store, well it's never asked me to do that before, anyway I did it
because it wouldn't let me do anything else. All I can find is the
music I've purchased from Itunes which is 282 tracks and albums, and
my 9000 songs have vanished. When I do a search on the computer with
the title of a song it's buried somewhere in the D drive somewhere and
I can't access it in my library, how did this happen and how do I get
all the music back into the library. It's a real pain.
