I am afraid you are confusing updating with maintaining.
The online Search facilities within Speak On are extremely well maintained.
This is why Speak On is sill working well for Podcast retrieval and QCast is
not.
Actually I was speaking to Isaac only yesterday about this on the phone and
congratulating him on this.

Hi David,
I can't agree with you that Speakon is maintained at all.
The last update was 2017, and even Isaac told me he doesn't do a lot with it at
this point.
All the best

I think for what you need the options are not really straightforward with pros
and cons.
Normally I would recommend QCast which is a paid app but has a developer who is
notorious for not supporting his apps.
The advantage of QCast is that it has a very simple interface and has a clear
command for download all episodes of a feed which is what you want though as I
say this does not always reliably work 100% of the time.
So provided you get the feed into QCast this might be a good solution for you.
The big downside is that things like the Podcast search are not being well
maintained.
So for example I searched last week on QCast for an Arts Council Podcast
called "Meet Me At The Museum".
This delivered a search result but attempting to connect only produced an error.
I have seen similar complaints about QCast not working well now on both the
Jaws and NVDA lists in recent weeks and I suspect this problem is only going
to get worse.
I tried the same search on Speak On, which is free, and it connected me
instantly to the correct Podcast Feed and allowed me to review all the
available episodes. Speak On, although free is far far more powerful and better
maintained than QCast, you have the option of searching for Podcasts not just
through its internationally maintained Podcast database but also through the
TuneIn Radio service, it and also like Webbie has a specific BBC linkage for
iPlayer/BBC sounds Podcasts. However there is a definite learning curve for
the app which is why I am trying to support this with my demonstration Podcast
series.
The other downside for you in particular is that as far as I can tell so far
Speak On does not have the ability to download all episodes of a feed.
The final option is iTunes which I think from memory also has the ability to
download automatically all episodes of a feed.
The plus for iTunes is that unlike QCast it is free and the Podcast database is
a world standard so should be superb at searching.
However iTunes is getting pretty sluggish on my PC at least and I am not sure
how long it will be supported in its present form on a Windows PC. It also has
even more of a learning curve in my view than Speak On.
I am probably not the best to guide you through iTunes at the moment though
possibly once I have finished the Speak On series I might look at getting stuck
into iTunes if it looks as if it has any future.

I really need recommendations for podcast apps. How much does qcast cost? I
usually use spotify or the web but spotify is clunky.

I am afraid we still need more information. How are you accessing Podcasts?
E.g. iTunes, QCast, Speak On, Webbie Podcast Reader, Hermes?

What are you using for Podcasts?
Phone? - iOS or Android ?
VR Stream?
PC?
What apps on PC or Phone?
For what it is worth this can be easily done if you are using a
Pocket Linio or Pocket Plextalk. Just select the option to download
all episodes of a feed

Subject: [access-uk] How to download all episodes of a podcast
Hello,
I feel like this is something that should be really easy, but I
haven't found a way of doing it that doesn't involve literally going
down the list one by one. Does anyone know a quick way of
downloading every episode of a particular podcast? Like a quick 'download
all'
button that does what it says on the tin?
