I haven't played with recording too much, but what I have recorded on the
internal mics is ok, better than the VRS.  You can record in WAV or MP3
formats, and you can attach a USB C mic if you want.  Don't expect the
quality you are used to, but it is respectable.

Kind regards,

Yep, the Evo E12 has very respectable speakers. The mics are not very good
though, how are the mics on the Sense Player?

Hi Steve

No not yet, just borrowing one.  I think headphones sound pretty good on
it,
and podcasts are in stereo! The speaker is much better than the VRS but
that
wouldn't be hard.  The best speakers though belong to the Evo12 on these
players.

Hi Jackie,

Do you have one then? What is the quality of the speaker and the
microphones?

Hi Steve

I have seen one and I too like its features.  It doesn't have the rigid
folder structure like the VRS does, and they plan to have what they
describe
as a mobile screen reader so that they can add apps like AudibleSync.  It
isn't certified by Google so that apparently gives Hims more scope to add
the apps they think will work.  I am guessing it is akin to how Blind Shell
have added apps that will work with their device.

The Smart Connect feature Pete refers to is very good.  But I agree the
device needs a case, perhaps Executive Products will come up with one that
costs a mint but which would offer protection and convenience with a neck
strap or lanyard.

Hi Pete,

Thank you for the mini review, it does sound good I have to say.

Does it have a rigid folder structure like the Stream, or can you put
anything anywhere, except for the Daisy folder, which I think is much
better.

Thanks.

Subject: [access-uk] HIMS SensePlayer

hi all,

i can't remember who it was that asked about the HIMS SensePlayer, but i
received mine a few days ago and am quite impressed with it.
compared to the previous models it is much slimmer and more stylish.
the layout is quite nice although i would have prefered the arrow keys to
be
more prominent and therefor quicker for you to be sure you have your finger
on the right buttton.
it already has lots of different functions, and will have even more with an
upcoming update.
the function i already like very much is the ability to control both apple
and android devices with it, quite similar to using a rivo keyboard.
and the function i look forward to with the update is the ability to record
mobile phone calls which could be very handy.
the one thing it lacks is a case, it would be much better if it came with a
case that could be hung around the neck especially when using it to control
other devices on the move, but not only does it not come with a case but at
the moment there isn't even one you can purchase as an optional extra.
the sound quality is satisfactory but not particularly loud, so i would
expect to need to use a bluetooth headset when controling say a navigation
app on a smart phone while outdoors.
i have the OCR model but haven't done much with it so far other than seeing
if it would recognise text  on a tv screen which it did fine.
and it has a huge database of internet radio stations and podcast feeds
which you can add to a favourite list including bbc local stations.

pete.
