Hi Eleanor

If you are registered blind or partially sighted, and you live in an area
that has not switched over yet, or switched over within the last 30 days,
the Goodmans smart talk Digibox itself is free through the switchover
scheme, but, unless you are in receipt of certain benefits, you do have to
pay £40 towards the scheme. This scheme includes an engineer to call out to
set up your equipment to receive digital tv, to show you how to use it, and
a 12 months after care telephone advice line.

The RNIB are still selling the Goodmans for £79 and actually sell it to the
switchover scheme, which is a joint venture between the government and the
BBC.

Cheers

Barry

I made enquiries about this as I understood it was free. Clearly I was
wrong. From the digital switch over people they have told me I would have
to pay £40 unless I am in receipt of benefits. Can someone clarify this for
me please? Why are the RNIB selling it at £80.10p if I can purchase it
cheaper elsewhere?
