Peter, yeah I 'm using a desktop mic, but it is not working for me too well.
When I start recording & tab to my backing track, play it, and start the vocal, but after the track has finished, and I play it back. There is only the vocal no backing track.
Yes, I'm using a karaoke backing track,

Billy if you don't require good quality you can do it through the mike. Just
play the song via Winamp or your favourite player and off you go. If you
want to mix tracks I believe you have to get up to Cakewalk Sonar 7 or
maybe Adobe Audition to do the job. Is this Karaoke, Billy?

Peter, all I'm trying to do is: record the vocal over the backing track, to
complete the song,

Billy,
One more thing I have to add here. Are you trying to mix two tracks into
one
track? This can't be done using GW, but if you are singing, or sort of
karaoking into GW then its okay and can be done, but GW isn't a mixer as
such and can't mix two tracks into one.
