Hi all, thanks for all your help regarding my friend's strange JAWS problem. It turned out that on her machine at least, the "Start JAWS after log on for all users" box must be checked, as well as "Start JAWS at the log on screen" of course. She's now got speech at both before and after log on. Thanks again, and take care.
