You will have to convert first, I am not sure how good it is for use with Jaws
but have a go with Handbrake.
Note that the conversion process can take some time.

I am guessing you have been able to play the films already, if not it might be
worth testing a couple before taking the time to convert them as while you can
just copy the files from a DVD they are often encrypted and so do not play
properly after copying.

Subject: [access-uk] Films and Itunes

Hello all,

I have a couple of hard drives full of DVD movies. I literally cut and pasted
them from the D drive to the external hard drive. I use Itune match and Home
Sharing, and was wondering how I would get these films into my Itunes library?
I'm guessing I'd have to do some kind of a conversion first...?maybe to MOV or
MP4.... if so, can anyone reccomend some idiot-proof software I could use with
Jaws?

Many thanks,

BJ
