Now, Jackie, the important word in the sentence regarding using the iPlayer is
potential.
Sadly certainly in my experience right now, using either Talkback or Screen
Reader, using it via the TV is not accessible. However what I do is either with
iPlayer or any other catch up TV app, find the content on my phone and then
chrome caste it to the TV.
Net flicks however is completely accessible using both screen reader and
talkback.
Personally in the main I use screen reader, as it handles the Freeview program
guide nicely, however if I want to do any keyboard entry, or change anything in
the TV config I switch to talk back.
It’s simple to toggle between the two.
I’ve had my Bravia for just over a year now and it’s certainly changed the way
I consume TV.

Hi Janet
A TV with the Android operating system is like that you would find on an
Android phone. In other words, the Android operating system supports Talkback,
so some Sony Bravia models use the Android OS and allow you to download
Talkback in addition to using its own screen reader. This means that you could
potentially use Netflix or the iPlayer on a Sony Bravia or other TV that runs
Android. But I haven’t seen it for myself, so am going by what I’ve heard from
those who use one. It’s great that there is more choice now.
Kind regards,
Jackie Brown

Hi Jackie,
Sorry to mail you off list but I can not post to the access list despite trying
to get in touch with George. I’ve just recently had a discussion with the
store manager for the Newcastle Richer Sounds, a guy called Dale. He seems
quite knowledgeable about the speech on the newer android TV’s. He did seem to
think that the best ones for speech are the new Samsungs with Voice Guide and
the new LG’s which are not exactly android but do have a very good voice that
echoes everything the Samsungs do. You can actually get a 24” LG for only £169
which also has the voice guidance on it.
Please feel free to pass this on if anyone is interested.
Many thanks.
Steve
