Martin,

When I used Power DVD everything was accessible from a  context menu.  Quite
how I got into it - with the applications key, or shift f10, or alt, or
something else entirely I don't remember.  But when I got it, everything
worked very well indeed.

Haven't watched a DVD at the computer for donkeys years, though.
