I do not know how many people will find this useful still but I did and so I want to share this information.

Sometime last year I found out that trusted - and free - f-prot for dos was no longer being supported by the mother company.

I now thru a German list i am on found out that the german homepage for the program and company still has the last version for fprot for dos (from sometime in 2006) up for grabs from their webpage and I discovered that fprot for dos happily accepts and works with the virus definition files for the windows version of fprot.

The german home page for fprot is

www.fprot.org

but for all those not fluent in the language, I have included direct download links to the needed files below.

I still use fprot to virus scan in real mode and when used with and ntfs driverfrom a boot disk, fprot can even be used with ntfs partitions though I have not used it that way

Happy and safe computing!

Doris
