I've replaced the drive now, old one smashed up and binned. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Chris & Doris Sent: 24 November 2009 12:00 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: External hd disconnecting and reconnecting? In all probability, it is not the hd in the external enclosure that is going south but the hd controller in the enclosure. however, this is a good time to make a backup just in case. You ought to be able to buy a new enclosure - you can get a decent one from like US$20 up - and transplant the disk into the new enclosure. hth Doris At 10:37 AM 11/24/2009 -0800, you wrote: >Martin, I had one which did that and then died! > > >Richard Godfrey-McKay > >Telephone: (01738) 445 880 > >Mob: (07791) 452 593 > > > > > >---------- >From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On >Behalf Of martin wilsher >Sent: 24 November 2009 02:34 >To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >Subject: [access-uk] External hd disconnecting and reconnecting? > >Hi all. i have a western digital my book external hd, and from time to >time, it loses usb connection and then reconnects, is this a symptom of >a failing external hd? > >or if not, what could it be? thanks. >thanks. > > >Hope to hear from you soon. > > > > From Martin. > > > >Please email me at: > > > ><mailto:m.wilsher@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>m.wilsher@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > > > > > >Or contact me using skype from > > > ><http://www.skype.com/>www.skype.com > > > >my skype name is dobbinequine > > > >Thanks > > twitter name is bigpawedbear. > > > >Please visit my website: > > > ><http://www.martin-wilsher.co.uk/>www.martin-wilsher.co.uk > > > > > > >__________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus >signature database 4632 (20091124) __________ > >The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. > ><http://www.eset.com>http://www.eset.com > > >__________ NOD32 4632 (20091124) Information __________ > >This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. ><http://www.eset.com>http://www.eset.com > >No virus found in this incoming message. >Checked by AVG - www.avg.com >Version: 9.0.709 / Virus Database: 270.14.79/2522 - Release Date: >11/23/09 14:45:00 ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 4632 (20091124) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 4632 (20091124) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
