George is correct here that people use the term memory stick, pen drive and
thunb drive to mean the same thing mostly. However you may be caught out by
"Memory stick" which is also a regsitered trade name of a memory technology
produced by Sony consumer electronics for use in their cameras and other
portable devices whcih goes by the same name of "Memory Stick", this is not
for direct connection to USB but requires a reader.

Hi Ian,

They are essentially all the same thing, and tend to
describe the physical shape more than anything.

George.

Can someone please explain the differences between
memory sticks, pen drives and thumb drives? Or are they all
names for the same thing? Or do any of them have advantages
over the others?
