Jackie,

Perhaps someone else on here who runs a business selling stuff to us could buy some and split it into smaller lots?

Over to you Steve?

Mike

Hi Mike

It does seem a bit excessive! (smile). I was thinking of buying some as
well, but I don't want that much either!

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

Hello Jackie,

I found the stuff you were talking about on the RNIB shop site.
Unfortunately I don't want to buy two kilograms of the stuff just to make a
few doodles for reference!

Hi David

I just went to the shop and typed in drawing, which yielded all sorts
of stuff, with the most relevant for Mike at the top. Not sure if
searching by code works, I don't see why not?

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

That's the stuff!
Is it possible to search the shop with a code only?

Hi Mike

I believe it is now under the name of plastic embossing film, code
LC22 or code LC23. If you draw on it with a pen, your diagrams will
raise. There is also a Draftsman drawing board, code LC193, but this
is quite expensive at around 100 quid.

If you want to check out what RNIB has, go to the online shop and
search for drawing, or it comes under the Learning section I think.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

Hello folks,

I have a question about drawing simple tactile diagrams.

Over twenty years ago, when I was still able to see, after a fashion,
I went to the Royal National College in Hereford. Among other things
I did there was a maths O level.

I can remember the blind students using a material which I think was
called 'German Film', to draw angles and stuff. This was a
semi-opaque material which produced a raised line when drawn on with a
stylus.

I have been looking for this and I can't find any reference to 'German
Film'
anywhere.

I want to draw very simple diagrams which I can then refer back to,
things like simple circuit diagrams and database structure charts.

How do other people achieve similar results? Did I dream the 'German
Film'
thing or has it now got a different name?

Mike
