I set the speed to 8x and the 'write to this drive' is selected in
properties but the problem is the same. I'll try updating the drivers.

According to NEC, the following are the CD and DVD types you can write at,
plus the maximum speed for each.

Could it possibly be that you are attempting to write at too high a speed?

George.

Transfer Rate Write (CD): CD-R: 48x, CD-RW: 32x
Transfer Rate Write (DVD): DVD+R: 16x, DVD-R: 16x, DVD+R9:
8x, DVD-R DL: 8x, DVD+RW: 8x, DVD-RW: 6x, DVD-RAM: 5x

To answer my own question and to pose another, it seems that the NEC DVD RW
ND-4570A that I have can record to any format, although it struggles with
dual layer, which I'm not using. My question is why can't I copy anything
to disc?
When I try copy and paste, I get the following message:

Problem copying. Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this
file. What do you want Windows to do?

There are two buttons: retry and cancel. Retry just brings up the same
message.

Thanks

Barry

Hi all

How can I tell what format my DVD player is? I bought some blank DVD's but
they don't work. I guess they are the wrong format.

Thanks

Barry
