Hi guys,

When it comes to networking with DSL I'm a complete novice.

I believe I've mucked things up at home here. I've dealt with cable
networking for about 7 years now and thought it was fine.

I'm getting muddled up with these filter boxes.

I gather this is the usual setup.

You plug your ethernet cable into the router/modem, and the other end into
your NIC.
You plug your phone lead into the filter box, then plug the filter boxes
telephone plug into the wall socket?

The problem is after attempting to install a new Linksys wag300n
router/modem and not getting the corrrect or sufficient info from BT as in
what dns addresses gateway addresses and domain names/user passes etc I
switched back to the voyager.
(I'm going to read the linksys manual and find out exactly what I need,
unless somebody knows as is using an alternative device other than the one
that came with their ISP and is willing to assit). We're getting appauling
speeds now. 64-32kbp/s on http downloads when i was getting 900kbp/s last
night.

Can anyone make sense of all this and help?
Thanks loads!Dj paddy
