interestingly I get a three options and the third one is more options! then I
actually have to swipe backwards to get to the delete. strange way of doing
it but thank you for your help as I've now managed to delete over eight
months of conversations between myself and two other people. it seems like
one conversation remains and I'm not sure why. when I double tap on it too
old to bring up the menu because I have a date in it I am being asked if I
want to create an event. i'm not getting any option to delete it.

options appear at the bottom of the page. They are: star, copy, forward and
delete. If you are the sender of the message that you’ve highlighted a fifth
option appears too which is info. This one gives details about the time of
the message and its red status.
