Hi Mo

I will pass on all your info. I haven't thus far come up against anything I
would like to keep, but I guess you never know. The friend in question will
find this helpful though I bet.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

Hi Jackie.

Its very rare i'll record something to my PC, because results can vary as to
what image quality you get depending on the TV card you have, as well as the
software used. I found that sometimes the image when recording from VHS was
being stretched too much to accomodate modern screen sizes, so i bought an
older analogue card for carrying out VHS conversions as the problem didn't
exist on those. you shouldn't in theory have this problem when recording
from the tvonics when using modern cards, i've yet to test it extensively.
At least now though, your friend will have a good idea as to what's
involved. 1 of the first things i did was to see if the recordings could be
copied directly from the tvonics hard drive. although i got hold of the
file, its encrypted and because of the protection, i found that i could only
play it back on the tvonics. You can buy freeview recorders that record to a
pen, though how accessible they are i can't say. I just hope that Pulse
Eight consider implementing this functionality on the tvonics boxes in
future.

Mo.
