Yes, but if you remove duplicates, because there is more than one instance on a
box set, that is not a true representative rip of the CD.

What Poweramp does is number the tracks, so you might get 01-Track Name and
35-Track name, so you would never ever get dups, even if they were the same
name.

None of the free rippers are as good as Poweramp to be honest.

All the best

Hi Steve,

Duplicate tracks is one of the things which Perfect Tunes is designed to
remove, hence my mentioning the feature.  While I agree that a standard rip of
a CD doesn't  cause duplicates, I've had situations where I've ripped several
CDs and had  duplicates, either due to faults with the ripping, or due to the
same track appearing more than once in a box set, although I believe this only
happened once.

Hi Alex,

I don't understand your reference to duplicate tracks?  If you rip a
CD, you'll never get dups.

Hi Mo and all,

Although I'm replying to the original message on this thread, I've
skim read the other messages but I  don't think I've seen reference to
the program I've suddenly remembered.

I can't remember exactly how I found out about it, but I have a
program called Perfect Tunes installed on my Windows 10 PC.  I haven't
tried to rip a CD with it since became unusable, but I thought I'd
mention Perfect Tunes encase it might resolve some of the problems
caused by  CDEX becoming unusable.

Perfect Tunes also has the ability to remove duplicate  tracks, which
may not be available in DBpoweramp and I don't think was available in CDEX.

I do hope this information is of help to some list members.

Subject: [access-uk] CDEx no longer working, any advice please?

Hello Everyone.

I recently tried to use CDEx and found that the database for
obtaining track information no longer works. Apparently, Free DB was
taken down earlier this year and music brains doesn't seem to want to
connect.
This basically means that CDEx will no longer go online to retrieve
information about your CD's.

Express rip doesn't work any more either.

Does anyone know of an alternative database which we can use or
accessible CD ripper which is still working? I would prefer not to
use iTunes or windows media player unless I really have to.

Very best wishes,

Mo.
