It is the USB master unit at £49 you want (the price has dropped considerably). You need an aerial socket and Freeview reception in your area, but no additional card is required.

Hi Steve

When Christine says:
so how much does this amazing thing cost and where does one obtain it
from/?
I am sure she is referring to your previous comment in the thread
concerning
the Nebula. This fantastic product is available from
www.nebula-electronics.com
There are a couple of models, a PCI internal card and a USB device. Please
check the web site for exact pricing.

Hi Christine,

Re-read my message again, and you will find out that I am not sure about
cost. I wouldn't even take the time to research it. It is really not
worth
it.

Hi Kirsten,

See my answers below to your questions:-

1. Isit worth it?

If you have a PC in the same room, no. Get the Nebula. It is much
better,
gives more access to the EPG, allows you to record as well as play, and is
just darned good.

 2. How much does it cost these days?

About 100 quid I believe.

 3. Is it better than an ordinary box (is the difference in price worth
it)?

To be honest, no. In fact, it is an ordinary Freeview box, with audio
description, and a few human generated talking prompts. This is one of
its
problems. Every time new channels come online, you get Unknown Channel,
instead of the name of the channel, and I hear they rarely update it
nowadays.

 4. is it good?

No.

 5. How do I go about getting it?

I believe RNIB may still be selling it, but I may be wrong about that.

 6. Should I not bother and just buy another freeview box for £20
Sadly I can't get free sat or sky as I live in a rented property so can't
put a dish up, and I can't get cable as the cos don't seem to operate
around
here, and I'm off NTL very much at the mo!

If you want Audio Description, then an ordinary Freeview box won't, of
course, do the job. You could get the Netgem, but again, if you have a
PC,
consider the Nebula offering. Visit http://www.nebula-electronics.com to
find out more.

Sorry, I really can't get enthusiastic at all about the Netgem, I couldn't
from the day it hit the market.
