David,
I rather doubt that this will be possible as the cells are from devices of
differing "generations".  The face plates and the pins themselves are
certainly different, but I can't comment on the internal "gubbins".
However, as George says, it's definitely worth running it past Blazie's
engineer, Dave Godfrey.  You can reach Dave on 01793 435225 in normal
business hours.  I know he still repairs and services Navigators
occasionally and PowerBrailles more frequently.  He just might be able to
offer you a suitable solution.
