It is extremely fiddly even for sighted people to replace pins on a Braille display. It is not the sort of thing I would think most blind user's would want to take on assuming it were possible. The main job displays require is cleaning on an ongoing basis, but Braille cells on these devices generally are small and very delicate. Regards. It would be great to be able to fix the cells yourself and, no matter how careful you are with them, you can be unlucky sometimes. I wish they could do a Braille display that one could personally Replace the pins as and when necessary. As you know, the pins tend not stay as high as new. But I guess the companies prefer to see the displays coming b back, As then more money in terms of servicing! Smiles. I used to use a Bookworm, and it only had eight cells, but I still whistled through a fair amount of Braille on it. In fact, I took it into hospital with me when I had back surgery, and it was the best thing I had at the time as it was so small and easy to read lying in the position I was. You do get used to small displays, it just means you have to keep advancing the cells as you've got less per line to work with.
