Andy, you don't necessarily need web hosting or your own domain name.

There are several free blogging services where everything is set up for you.
Could I suggest you try Wordpress, as if you ever move on to your own domain,
you can transfer Wordpress stuff there.

If's pretty straightforward setting up. You need an account, and you would
then normally set up a profile with whatever name, nickname, photo and personal
details you wish to disclose.

To start the blog, you will want a title and an explanatory strap-line, which
will go at at the tops of your pages.

Writing a blog entry is a bit like writing an e-mail, really. You will want a
subject line, and then type or paste your writing into an edit box, pick some
tags to make it easier to trace and then send it.

Other services that are similar are Blogger and Typepad. I've found Wordpress
pretty accessible, and haven't tried the others.

  Vince.

    Hi all -

Anybody on here set up their own blog? I'm thinking of doing this, but not
sure how to proceed.

I can imagine that I might need a web hosting service, and therefore
perhaps a domain name, but that looks a bit of a mine field, and I've no idea
of what accessibility is like in that mine field <smile>
    Thanks for any help -

    Andy
