Yes Clive. I've had a few cases lately where I've had to clear the Cache in Explorer. To try an explain it in simple terms, when you look up a web site, you system usually directs you to a special site which resolves the long alphabetic name you enter in IE. That returns an IP (Internet Protocol) address, which is rather like a telephone bumber, tells IE where the site is actually located, and passes you there. When you do this, your own system "caches" the IP address, meaning that future searches can find the site quicker. What can happen is that the IP address changes, and because you have the old one cached, it doesn't try to look using the long address, only the IP one. So what possibly appears to have happened here is that while the centra name resolution servers have been advised that the old address is no longer in use, the data is actually still there, and can still be reached by looking up the IP address. That's exactly what happened here. Our ISP moved our web site to a new server, and didn't remove the version on the old server. Bad practice on their part (my ISP's) but not uncommon. Had they in fact removed it, our system would have gone hack to the central name resolution server and queeried it again. As I said, very basic, but essentially what happens, and why others can't get at the link you gave. I'm not sure how caching works, but would this result in my being able to download movies which weren't there when I first cached the page? I used the link a lot in January and February, then stopped. Just before sending to those who asked for it, I used it again and the page I went to gave me information about April 2011 updates. I pasted the link from that page into an email and sent it, and recipients said: "frustratingly, I can't assess the site with this link". I'm not complaining, but would like others to have what I'm getting. I had a similar issue which was only resolved yesterday as it happens. I'd ammended our web pages, and yet here I was not seeing the changes, only what appears to be to the old site. It turned out that our ISP had migrated our web site to a new server, bit had not removed the site from their old server. I'll try to remember to send from home tonight and see if anyone can make sense of this anomaly. First, can someone please help me work this out. My friend reckons that maybe the blind mice have all their movies in a folder in sendspace, so, if this is true, all we need is for someone who knows much about computers to help work out what the address of that folder is, then us who can't get to blind mice can just go directly and choose files from the sendspace folder. Have also just found this link for another place where you can get the audio movies. There isn't I don't think as much as the blind mice used to have, but there is quite an ok collection. http://www.sendspace.com/folder/1xxkev Ari ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
