This is one reason why the clock keeps time, for example. If it is indeed an actual battery, the chances are that it will be one of those coin batteries, and will be located on the motherboard of the PC. If you know someone who can safely open up the case, they are usually fairly easy to find and replace. There's also a good chance that you'll get spares locally in a decent computer shop, or even somewhere that replaces clock and watch batteries. At worst, it could be what's called a "Supercap", and I'm afraid that will probably require a technician to replace as they are usually soldered in place. Either which way, it should NOT be an expensive item to fix.
