Hi DJ , I don't know which program was under discussion, but I currently use drive snapshot. http://www.drivesnapshot.de/en/ another is image for windows, don't have the address, but terabyte software is the author. Both programs will backup a running windows system you can create a dos restore disk, and if you have a old-fashioned synth with screen reader support, say vocal eyes from GW Micro, or an early version of ASAP or Hal, you can manage your disaster restore requirements. Both programs are more accessible than say norton ghost because neither use a bitmap display under dos. What you could do of course, is backup to say a second partition, or a group of cd's, and restore to an external drive, then and if your drive pops, you can slide in the drive holding the restore. I'm no expert though, so you might like to garner ideas from this and other lists. If my pc gets hosed, I can be up and running within however long it takes to screw in a replacement drive, or slot in 1 in a removable bay. I think that the terabyte image program offers usb support under its dos boot disk as well. good luck Joe Paton. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
