Notice how there are no replies though that fix it, so I don't think this is
conclusive at all.
In the JAWS case, it is, or seems to be, always the Alt key that gets stuck,
not the Windows key.

Hi Dave,
Well done indeed.!
I have used TinyURL as below to shorten your link which unfortunately
wrapped. However it does clearly indicate that it is an issue within
Windows itself with the G key.

It is quite detailed, but at the same time, I would hope that it is fixed in
a Windows update.

Has anyone taken this issue up with the JAWS people?
With all the reports here and elsewhere now, it sure seems to be where the
blame lies.

Hi David,
I can confirm that, for me at least, that isn't it. Disabling the game bar
is something I do on all my machines, and I still get the problem, but like
Clive, only when JAWS is running.

It may be invoking the game bar, which would be entirely inaccessible,
and is something which you wouldn't ordinarly use.
Try going into services, and disabling anything to do with Game bar.
This is off the top of my head, so haven't had chance to check which
services would make this happen,
David.

Hi,
I suspect a JAWS specific problem Andrew, since I never see it with
NVDA, Narrator or Supernova.

Hi,
This has happened to me since December 2019. My original thought was
that it was happening due to Slack on my work laptop but I've had it a
couple of times now on my main machine and Slack isn't running. Work
laptop is an HP EliteBook running Windows 10 Enterprise 1809. My home
machine is an old Dell Optiplex running Windows 10 Pro 2004. Ian
Robinson replied with a good suggestion relating to Windows Game Bar
(windows+g), but I don't think this is my issue since the Windows Game
Bar is speaking and this overlay that pops up doesn't. My hunch at
this stage is its something to do with Intel HD Graphics, I have a
couple
I am sure you know of the issue where modifier keys sometimes get
virtually stuck and I think this issue is stemming from that.
It happened in a most inconvenient place yesterday since I was in a
Zoom chat and couldn't write a message.
Andrew.

Hi Andrew,
This is interesting because the similar issue has arisen with the same "G"
key on the ukvise list, with a laptop purchased from PC World. Where
did your come from? (Make/Model?)
What version of JAWS are you using, and assuming it's Windows 10, what
version number is it?
Also, do you by any chance have an external USB keyboard you can test
the laptop out with, to see if the problem goes away when used?
There have been suggestions that it is a JAWS issue, but I have my doubts.

Hi,
Not sure if its my typing style but has anyone else seen a situation
in Windows where the G key doesn't type the letter but instead brings
up another screen which JFW doesn't read?
I don't know what causes this to happen, I can eventually get out of
this situation but it takes a bit.
I have this on my main system here and also using a work laptop.
Thanks.
Andrew.
