If it increases the amount of AD available then think it's a really good
idea. Cheers! Graham

Hi Barry,
Yes, digital AD would be fine for me, I don't need emotion in audio
description personally, I just need the information. It's a bit like the
SkyQ talking box. If they had used WaveNet, from Google, it would have been
better than the cheaper version they used, but it really doesn't matter.
All the best
Steve

Subject: [access-uk] Audio Description in a digital voice
Hi all
If it made roll out more widespread, would you be ok with some Audio
Description in a digital voice instead of a real person, much like some of
the RNIB talking books?
My thinking is that I wouldn't mind it if it was a choice between no AD and
digital voice AD. However, I'd say that digital should only be used on
non-fiction programmes, such as documentaries and news. Digital doesn't
have the right intonation or gravitas to AD a drama or thriller whilst
keeping the right mood.
I'd prefer not to open this up to finger pointing and complaining about the
lack of AD or problems with on-demand. We've hammered that before and we
all know what they are.
Cheers
Barry
