Hi Kevin - Regarding selecting music for a playlist, I wanted to make my
selection from the artists list, but it doesn't allow for that, nor does it
allow for it in the albums view. It can only be done from the songs view! So,
if I have 50 artists I want to select for a playlist, it appears I have to go
into the songs view, and find all the tracks contained on those 50 artists
albums [there could be several albums for some artists] and add them! Bit of a
pain ain't it! Got to be another way? -

Andy

  Hi Andy.

In the songs view, the library is still ordered in album sequence and you can
choose to display composer if you wish so that you can see this as you arrow up
and down. Furthermore, first letter navigation is possible so if you hit
letter H, it will take you to the first track of the Hair of the Dog album for
example.

To answer your other question, you can select a bunch of files contiguously
using shift with up and down arrow and then use the application key and select
move selection to a new playlist. It’s not possible though to do this
non-contiguously using the control key and up and down arrows in conjunction
with the spacebar which is a shame.

  Regards.

Thanks Kevin - Yes, latest iTunes. Pitty about that, I like the idea of being
able to browse by album name, but still hear the artist too instead of
composer, as in my case, the library is mostly classical these days. Ah well.
While I'm here, I can't seem to figure a way of going through the library [in
whichever view] using track selection that I can then put in to a playlist. I
can select track by track, use the applications menu, and add to playlist that
way, but it would be faster if I could just arrow through and check the songs I
want, then move on mass to the playlist. Do you know if this can be done?

  Thanks -

  Andy

    Hi Andy.

Are you using Itunes 11? If so, there’s no way to do that and I would
advise setting the list view to songs and use column browsing instead to get to
a single column list of albums, artists and whatever else you’d like in the
column browser.

    Regards.

    Hi all -

I can't see how to get the albums list in to a list view. When I use the
artists view, I can arrow up and down through the list of artists, but when in
album view, I have to arrow left and right. There doesn't appear to be a list
view option on the view menu, so how do I change this? -
