The answer to 1 is no.
The answer to 2 is it's called Explore and is hidden in settings, System.
I wouldn't use it though, as it's a bit limited. Get Xplore or OI File
Manager.

Appreciate help with two things please:
1. When in the apps list and using the search facility, is there a way to
restrict the search to the apps on the phone and prevent it anticipating
possibilities from previous google searches on other devices?
2. What is the name of the built in file manager on 8.1.0
