Hi, My best suggestion would be to go somewhere like Richer Sounds and actually ask them to show you some models.

Subject: [access-uk] Advice required on reasonably priced portable CD players accessible by the totally blind

Hi all,

although I have some residual vision, my wife, Carol, is totally blind.

Carol has recently had the CD player on her Philips CD/Radio/Cassette machine pack up and she would like to look into purchasing a stand-alone portable CD Player that is easily accessible by someone totally blind.

We both realise that Carol could purchase a new CD/Radio/Cassette, however, as I have said, the unit she has at present only has a faulty CD player, therefore we feel that although we have been told that repair of the faulty CD player would cost more than replacement, we would rather just purchase a portable CD player than purchase a complete new 3 in one unit, therefore, I am looking for recommendations of what people on this list would recommend as a good stand alone accessible portable CD player, which will play normal music CDS.

Thank you all in advance for your recommendations
Alexander Shannon
