Yes, I’m in favour of this too. If not, we could miss out. Sometimes ads can be
useful.

Have every advert voiced.

Thanks, Steve and Angie. My favour on this is for a custom button that Voice
Guidance can be assigned to. Still, that’s a slightly different matter. Until
we can get this sort of thing working properly, would it be ok to have each and
every advert voiced by the screen reader or have it turned off until such a
simple toggle could be created?
Cheers

But this is where it should be easy to toggle speech anyway. Should be a double
or triple click on a button on the remote.

I think if possible it should be an easy toggle. I can think of a time where it
could be annoying: someone phones you, you stop what you’re listening to and
the speech of course chunters on and this could be inconvenient. I have no
objection to these adverts in principal though, could be useful.

Hi all.
Some smart TV’s have a screen saver with content that is just adverts. They
are updated once a minute. What do you think of a TV announcing adverts as
they update with a screen reader for those who use one on their TV? On one
hand, it is content that we are missing out on if it is not announced but, on
the other hand, do you want the screen reader talking to you every minute that
the screen saver is on?
Of course, the ideal might be to have a custom setting that gives the user
control of whether or not to have screen saver content announced by the screen
reader, but is that giving us something beyond what sighted people get as they
cannot control whether or not to have adverts. Of course, they can look away,
but we can temporarily turn off the screen reader or mute the TV.
Any feedback on this could influence the behaviour on a global basis, so I
appreciate any feedback.
Cheers
Barry
