That's the great thing about jaws scripting though, versus macro
programs. What I have been able to do is to say to jaws, when you are in
a message, do the function that Carol wants. However, anywhere else,
don't bother. For example, when deleting characters in messages, you
would want the delete key to do the right thing and delete the
character.

Carol, what you will have to do is to stop the message being read first,
then press delete. What happens then is that the message gets deleted,
and the next one is read automatically. If you have the author and
subject headers turned on, they are read as well.

Interesting that Brian can respond so readily. Now, if that sort of
response were more widspread then people would find themselves in less
of a predicament then they often are. nOt that this situation is
crucial, at least to my mind. Just saying that if scripting support
were more redily available and afordable, then many of the JFC problems
we here of would lesson. (Brian is doing this for free of course.)

Just to emphasise that you do not have to have JFW to do this sort of
thing, Some might like to know that when I was playing about with
Quickeys macro program I did just what Carol and others were asking for
with Outlook.
(Note I said Outlook.) I use Window-Eyes, and there were no problems
doing this. I did not keep the change, but remapped it to
control-delete, which meant that if I was sipping tea at the keyboard,
and you are not supposed to do that, (smile), then you could flick
through messages one-handed. I refraned from using Del alone because I
didn't want to unitentionally send messages to the deleted items folder.

Hi

No problems, I'll make it happen. People should hold off downloading
the aforementioned update then until later this evening by which time
the pressing of the delete key will be there. As Carol says, it works
in Outlook Express but not in Outlook at the moment by default.

You're both right!

Brian, that's how it works with Outlook.

Ray, you're right: The Outlook Express scripts enable one to use the
DEL key to delete whilst reading messages. I love that and it means you
press just one key to read continuously, until you want to respond to a
message. Is that possible, Brian?

Thanks for that Brian. Yes, I know that delete key deletes a message in

list view. Its just that I was under the impression that many JFW users

were accustomed to using the DEL key when viewing a message. So,
anyone, am I right? Ray

Control+D is used when you are in a message itself. Delete is used when

Control+in
the list of messages when you are browsing through them.

Hi Brian, or who ever wants to reply.

Control-D? So, do your scripts not utilise the DEL key as I believe
that's what many JFW users have got used to? Or is DEL an alternative?

Interested in this one as I for one prefer to stick to a native command,
such as Control-D in Outlook for deletion. Ray

Hi

List member Richard Godfrey suggested a feature for the Outlook scripts
which people can now download. When you are viewing a message, and you
press control+D to delete it, the next message will be read
automatically if the scripts have been set to read messages
automatically. In addition, if the option in the scripts has been set
to read author and subject headers, these too will be read.
