Hi Jackie, I think you mean Adobe Audition. I don't use it, but I know of it. It's an audio editor.

                   John.

Subject: [access-uk] Accessible editing software

Apologies for cross-posting, but there are some knowledgeable people on
these lists who don't necessarily subscribe to both.

When I was in a class at university yesterday, the lecturer was using some
editing software which he called Adobe Additions version three. I have
heard of it, and he demonstrated it to us all. In fact, I understood
everything he was doing with it: editing a programme, taking speech out and replacing it, adding sound effects, and putting in white noise. But I can't
imagine it would be accessible with JAWS unless any of you know different?
He suggested that Audacity is a free equivalent that students could use, and
I have heard mention of this plenty of times on list, but have never paid
much attention as it hasn't until now been relevant to me.

Could someone therefore please tell me what Audacity does, how accessible it is, and what editing software I could use to achieve the same results as the
rest of my class? I know Sound Forge is a good package, but it is
expensive, and I have heard you can't multi-layer with it.

Any suggestions welcome with thanks. If push comes to shove, my Specialist
Campus Assistant, who has been assigned by the university to go everywhere
with me and effectively be my eyes, could do what I instruct her so it is my
idea, my work, my outcome. But I would like to have hands-on and do it
myself if possible.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns
