Hi Ali,

    I was out all day yesterday, so have just picked up your query this
morning.  Thanks to George for prodding me too.

    Briefly, the AtW "voluntary contribution" is just that, so there is no
penalty for refusing to make a voluntary contribution towards costs. 
It is a rather underhand way by which AtW tries to save money, supposedly so
that it can spread its budget further to help more people.

    I'll post a separate note about the UKVISE list.
