That’s my next book, after I finish “James Holland’s Battle of Britain”, which
is excellent, I like the way he writes history.

I read a couple of fiction books recently about carriers. It was actually a
trilogy following a captain and the first book he was in command of a
destroyer but I skipped that one. The second book he is put in command of
an escort carrier escorting an Arctic convoy and in the third he is given an
Illustrious class carrier in the Pacific that carried Corsairs. As is
usual, most of the events did happen in real life, eg the ops room being
decimated by stray fire from a nearby destroyer and killing about 30 crew,
but they did not all happen to one ship. Probably full of errors if I knew
the subject better but I like carriers so I enjoyed it. :-P They were
called 'HMS Inflexible' and 'HMS Crusader' and were only 99p each on Kindle
I believe. Most of my books come from the bargain buckets :-)
