I agree.
The problem is that you can set up multiple channels, but that you cannot
communicate across them like in TS3 so separating fighters and bombers will
not help :-)

The main issue I have with Discord is that you have 50% of the server
talking in one channel and many of those are using it for inane chatter
about TV & politics etc when you are trying to play seriously. Sharing it
with just one other squadrons should restrict that. The remaining issue
though is that even only having two squadrons on, if they are all using one
channel during ops then it gets too cluttered. I cannot understand its
attraction for in-game comms personally and I sometimes wonder whether it
is a 'generation' issue ie the younger generations just like to chat in
large groups while us grumpy old farts want some peace. As a means of
chatting, both voice and text, and exchanging files in real-time DIscord
is perfect.
Also bear in mind that I am one of the more 'Discord friendly' members of
the squad (relatively speaking as I still dislike it :-) ) Some other
members will never use it and will just not play on nights that we meet 92
if we have to use Discord. There will be no 'compromise' when a person has
strong security issues with it.

Many thanks for both your replies. So far, we are still in early stages of
development, with around 13 members. We are currently undergoing training
with them as often as we can, so we are only considering the use of Discord
at the moment unfortunately. However if there was perhaps a way we would
both be willing to compromise upon to work together, then I would be more
than happy, and I'm sure the Sqn Ldr of 92 would too be pleased to work on
this.

From previous discussions about discord as you mentioned, it's a
non-starter for the majority. Another option might be to use il2 SRS on a
less used channel?

discussed it and decided not to use it. On the other hand, more and more
servers and players use it. So maybe we have to look at it again. It could
be one of the conditions to fly together with 92 or any other squad...
