He picked us off one after the other as we were broken up. He got me 3 minutes after hitting Cina because I knew I was on my own, stopped chasing him (for SA), turned back to find the others and he re-engaged. It was seven more minutes before he found phoenix (quite a long time) who I think was with Roblex but in any case it only took him two more minutes to get Roblex. A position of total dominance. Let's get back up to 30,000 feet :)

Blimey, 1 guy shot 4 of you down, was TBAS BiggieB one of half a dozen 109’s or is your tac turn so complicated you can’t check each other’s 6?

Klem intimated the 109 “timed his attack well” but the 109 would expect you all to be checking each other constantly, even during a turn where it’s often easier to see behind. Did he attack 4 times “just” at the right moment?

Looks like you had a tough sortie, did anyone film or have a tacview of what went on, so you can see how it played out?

I am guessing this is the sortie from the logs:

20:16:57 WAS SHOTDOWN =TBAS=BiggieB Bf 109 F-4

20:19:53 WAS SHOTDOWN =TBAS=BiggieB Bf 109 F-4

20:26:59 WAS SHOTDOWN =TBAS=BiggieB Bf 109 F-4
56RAF_Roblex
20:28:40 WAS SHOTDOWN =TBAS=BiggieB Bf 109 F-4

As I think it would be also good to find out, what did not go to plan after the tactical turn and Cina getting shot down also?
It looks like it was a tough fight, what would you have done, if anything differently in the sortie?

As a side note flew a sortie on Kota the other afternoon in MKIX's and bounced a D9 and G14 that are in a LW squad. They did the normal thing as they had lost sight of one another as they were bounced, popping flares etc. Any ways we shot the D9 down and badly shot up the G14, who was lucky as he managed to land with one wheel leg collapsing, full of holes, but with his engine still going, so classed as a no kill. Which he decided to let us know lol.

We jumped on to the TS which he was on and had a chat, it turns out that they think the MkIX is over powered lol.

I am pretty sure that the hanger-on left us before we hooked.    As we approached the port I looked back and saw a spit descending steeply towards the city and I advised on TS that he had left us.    That was about 30 seconds before Cina called the hook.    I don't think Talisman got close to Cina and I stayed with Talisman and we came out in the correct place relative to Cina.

Of course as we were over the  target there may have been other Spits already there and one of those crossed your nose or it was one of those I saw diving away earlier.

Guys, I want to explain how it was that I didn't warn Cina in time
tonight and he got shot down - just in case we messed up - or was it
that loonie who tagged along with us and got in the way.

When Cina called the Hook Right I waited briefly to make my hook - as
you do -  which made it easy for me to hook while keeping him in view,
adjusting my flight to come out in position. During the turn a Spitfire
cut across my nose very close and I thought it was one of our pair from
the left making a very wide hook. Of course it could have been the
loonie just getting in the way? Anyway at the time I assumed it was one
of us and as he took up position on Cina's four another a/c swept past
me as if he was our guy's wingman. It was only because I thought we had
messed up that I zoomed in to see his Letter. That's when I saw the two
109 radiators and shouted break but it was too late.

So, if it was one of us that cut across Cina's hooking pair the lesson
learned is that we need to be clearer about how we make our hooks. If it
was the loonie I bags first shot at him next time.  In any case I think
we should ask hangers on not to fly with our formation as it causes
confusion.

Still, hats-off to the 109 pilot, he timed it beautifully, nobody saw
him before we hooked.
