Stickz was steady to me on our subsequent flight... Right upto the point he
disappeared... Some seconds after he reported that I had disappeared to him. I
think the net code does a pretty good job of compensating for packet loss,
until it closes on the point of no return. Unfortunate for us!
Cina had also had to abort just after take off, which was unfortunate again.
The P51 flying right behind us had been a bit of a distraction to be honest, as
we couldn't always identify him positively. But mainly he made himself very
vulnerable as you say. Perhaps Java could use a bit more direction from 56 the
next time they escort? I'm not sure if there would be a language issue though,
or indeed if they would want us ordering them around 😉
I'd not checked the forum - Always interesting to see the opposing pov. Because
I usually only get to fly once a week, I quite like the debriefs I must say.

The enemy formation turning south shows what we saw, that looked like
separating more because of the left turn.
If you look at the first pictures it shows the situation with the formation and
how we then made our decisions on who to attack.
It’s a good idea to isolate the targets where you can, my original thought was
to go for the furthest south(left) of the formation which would have been Pod.
He is number 2 of the lead pair, rear left in the finger four formation.
Knowing full well as a rule most wingman will be looking at their leader and
only glancing at the far pair to the right.
Same rule with the number 3(second pair leader) would be looking mainly at the
number 1, and the number 4 doing the same as the number 2. It takes very good
discipline to keep a concentrated look out being the number 2 and 4. This is
not a “56” thing we see the same with other squads flying the same formation.
So Witch could get the number 4 and me the number 2, seeing the two 51’s
changed that as they were even more isolated and flying as singles really, the
pictures show this.
So to take the 51’s out would be even more easier as they could only check
their own six really.
Once they were taken out, let’s see what the next situation would present
itself to us. Which would be down to how the rest of the formation responds, it
would dictate our next move. There seemed to be no major reaction to the
downing of the 51’s and really the turn southwards put us in a better position
as we did not have a tail chase eastwards which would have taken us longer, and
we could cut the corner, on the south turn.
So you can see from what I have said the little things that you did actually
helped us even though you are not to know that at the time. The little things
like isolated targets, formation getting slightly more separated, no visible
reactions. Actually make the situation worse for you as it goes on.
If those 51’s were closer together flying as a pair, they might have seen the
attack coming? If the turn to the south towards the target had got the northern
pair to go first and close up with the southern pair before their turn.
Formations stays in support, both for visuals and mutual support, which makes
our attack harder to succeed, etc.

Btw we did not see Stickz warp etc, also not on the film either, normally you
do if someone has a bad connection, so we did not realise he had a bad
connection.
