3 July, Bad weather restricted flying both sides.

2 Spit’s, a Mustang and a Typhoon hit by Flak
4 July,
2 Ju 188’s by NF’s.
1 Fw 190 claimed by mustang, Spitfire collided with P-47, 2 Mosquito’s lost, 1
to fighter 1 to Flak, 4 Fw190’s damaged, 6 109’s/190’s claimed damaged and
destroyed, 3 190’s claimed for the loss of 2 Spitfires- worst Spitfire losses,
to enemy fighters, for some time.
Loss of 1 Mustang.
5 July,
Me110 NF claimed, Do217 NF claimed.
Typhoon lost in bad weather, Mustang lost to Flak,
Loss of 4 Mosquito’s to Flak,
2 Fw190’s destroyed by Spitfires, 109 claimed by Mustangs, 132 Sqn bounced by
20 LW fighters and a 109 claimed for no loss, 421 Sqn claimed 4 109’s for no
loss, 441 Sqn (Johnnie Johnson) 11 Fw’s claimed for 1 loss due to collision.
132 Sqn claim a 109. USAAF Claimed 30 LW fighters during the day.
6 July,
2 Mosquito’ NFs lost to Flak.
Typhoon lost to Flak, 2 Typhoons lost over the sea, 132 Wing (Spitfire IX’s)
escorting Mitchells, 20 enemy engaged 9 claimed for loss of 1 Spitfire,
Spitfire lost to Flak.
7 July,
Mustangs and Spitfires engage LW fighters and claim a 109 & 190, 401 Sqn
Spitfires engage 12 109’s, 1 claimed destroyed, 24 enemy engaged by 4 Spitfires
and Fw & 109 claimed for no loss! 132 Sqn engage 8 enemy fighters 1 claimed,
Spitfire lost by Flak, 412 Sqn attack enemy fighters claimed 3 but on the way
home a Spitfire lost to Flak though the pilot survived and returned to Sqn.
132 Sqn 12 Spitfires engaged 15 enemy fighters claiming 7 for no loss! 411 Sqn
Spitfires engage 10 enemy fighters 2 claimed for no loss, 401 Sqn Spitfires
engage 8 109’s 2 claimed for no loss.
Quite a busy week and again the Spitfire IX’s and Mustang III’s were on fighter
sweeps or armed recce’s, not carrying bombs.
