Hey Guys,

I was told earlier that not everyone knew that mounting has begun - I
guess I thought Dr. Wang had emailed us all or something.

Anyways, here's the current status of things:

We have one node completely mounted on light pole B4 (in front of
Littlejohn), and supplied with power. I also believe that we were able to
connect to the cameras via the router in this box, though I am not 100%
certain of that - I was not present then.

The gateway node/enclosure is on top of Jervey Athletic Center (building
right next to Jervey Gym), but the Power over Ethernet (POE) powering
solution is not working correctly yet. We have POE successfully up to the
roof, but the splitter adapter which should split the power and eth cable
back out and then into the router is not doing so. We are working to
figure out why/find a solution. I currently have both the splitter and the
gateway router itself in my truck, and will run some basic tests tomorrow.

The node going on the corner of Jervey Gym will be put up tomorrow,
assuming we get a permission wrinkle out which supposedly was ironed out
already.

Our other two nodes, going on light poles A1 and C36, will go up tomorrow,
and will hopefully go faster than the initial one. However, we have to
have an additional transformer for each of these two, since these poles
are running at 277 Vdc, instead of the 120 Vdc like B4 was. The
transformer will most likely hang on the backside of the pole and
cables/wires will wrap around to the enclosure on the front, so as not to
induce any interference with the router.

The nodes are going above the athletic flags hanging on the poles, and
will be reachable at a later time via an "A" ladder that the Facilities
shop has. The ladder reaches up to 28 ft up, but I got the impression that
it can be kind of scary. Another EXCELLENT thing to note is that the guys
working with us from the Electric Shop, Joey and Larry, gave us their cell
phone number so that if we ever needed the bucket truck again for this
project, we could just call them directly and bypass bureaucracy and
paying $$$$$ to use it.

Mounting is scheduled to begin at 8AM tomorrow, and will probably last all
day again, minus lunch. I have networking guys scheduled to be out there
all day - but other people's help/input/presence would be greatly
appreciated.

Have a great night.
