Is Adobe Reader like the 'free' version, and Acrobat the 'registered' versi=
on?

If you have Adobe Acrobat, you should be able= to permanently change
any of the attributes of the pdf in question if y= ou look under the
background feature. If you only have Acrobat Reader, g= o to
Edit/Preferences and look under Accessibility..
