The site provides safety material on topics such as the causes of
chimney fires, how to prevent them and what to do during a
chimney fire, a "basic anatomy" lesson on fireplaces, the
principles of fireplace operation with troubleshooting tips, how
to select the right type of firewood, proper venting of gas
fireplaces, information on gas logs, the dangers of carbon
monoxide, preventing water damage to chimneys, the facts about
chimney liners and even the correct venting of household dryers.
In addition,
there's an FAQ, and a search facility to locate a certified
chimney sweep (U.S. only). A selection of relevant links is also
included.
