Hello Scouts and Parents,
---
For the Adults:
This Tuesday evening, 6/12 at 7:00, there are two scout rank Boards of Review
scheduled.
Parents who haven't participated in the past are invited and encouraged to
observe the process which will help them explain the process to their son, and
eventually supplement Committee Members that retire each year with their scouts
that age out. The process grinds to a halt if parents don't learn and volunteer.
The adult Committee Meeting starts shortly thereafter and again you are invited
and encouraged to attend and participate. The likely topics: Troop Financial
Health, Campout Review, Troop Advancement Status, Family Summer Trip
discussion, upcoming Scout Trip discussion, new members needed for open
positions.
---
For the Adults:
Youth Protection Training (YPT) has been modified and must be retaken
irregardless of your expiration date.
Please go to myscouting.org and create an account if you do not have one. This
is separate from your BSA ID # if you have one.
You do not need a BSA ID # to take YPT, but there is a spot on the certificate
to add the number.
Once logged in, follow the e-training links to the YPT training.

The Balloon Festival, Aug 3,4,5
I messed up in our favor. One of the two tent sites was booked before I got
back to the folks, so he gave us two RV sites we can place our tents on. This
means we'll have electricity and be right next to the small fishing and
swimming pond.
If you haven't signed up for this trip, please do this week. This is great way
to get requirements signed off and add camping nights for merit badges and OA
eligability. If enough adults attend, we could stagger trips to the festival if
people are more interested in the camping then the balloons, and vice versa.
This is one link for the rally, there are others.

and here is the campground: http://www.saddlebackcampground.com/photos/
The weather should be hot.
Scouts will be lodged and fed. There is no fee for this trip, but carnival and
helicopter rides are on your own.
Balloon launch and night glow are free too.

Mr Page announced this week will be a regular troop meeting and the awards
Court of Honor and mandatory scout and one parent/guardian meeting is delayed

This coming weekend is another opportunity to get requirements signed off and
add camping nights for merit badges and OA eligability. It's the Wahtutca
Service Weekend. See or Contact Mr. Page to camp at this event.

The Appalachian Trail hike is on the calendar for August 17 - 19, but this
could change at the committee meeting
No costs for this trip other than the equipment you must obtain. See Mr.
Bachman for information or to sign up.
It is recommended you have previously made a backpack hike as this is
physically demanding.
This trip was delayed and scouts should continue conditioning.
---
A good size group of scouts recently worked on the Public Speaking merit badge
and the surge seems to be moving towards the Family Life badge, which had a
good session Sunday night. If you're interested in starting Family Life or any
merit badge, contact Mr Page to get the process rolling.
These badges aren't possible without adults volunteering their time.
Exposure to Twenty one subjects out of one hundred and thirty six are required
to be completed for the Eagle rank.
Thirteen of these are specified mandatory, the rest are electives.
