I am afraid I will not be able to lead Shabbat services tomorrow. I hope
this is not too much of an inconvenience for anyone.
Some time ago I hurt my knee rather badly. The x-ray didn't show anything
broken, and things healed well---or so I thought. The knee has swollen up
again and is very painful. My family care doc says I will probably need
surgery. We will see what the orthopedic surgeon says next week.
In the meantime, movement is difficult, and ill advised and although leading
services is hardly an Olympic feat, it does require a certain amount of
standing, getting up and down, etc.
So, for now, I will have to be a liturgical by-stander.
