Indeed! Trying to simulate 64-foot pipes is interesting. Hopefully
I'll be able to test it on a medium-sized PA sometime soon. Right now
I'm headphones, although I'll probably throw it through my old guitar
tube amp soon too, it does bass rather nicely.

I have attached what may be a next iteration. I took the octave of your
4th voice down one more octave (to -2), this should cause its impact to
the higher registers to more or less go away. I then added a 5th voice,
a noise voice, low-pass-filtered. Mysteriously, and I'm not sure how or
why, the low-passed noise somehow add/subtracts with the low-Hz audible
and LFO frequencies to produce a powerful coherent whole. It's
interesting, because the whoosh is a white-noise source of real pipes,
and although organ-builders can strive to delete the highs, they can't
touch the lows of the noise, and I bet, would not want to do so if they
tried.

I suspect that if we took a scope to real pipes, we would find the noise
riding like an AM signal on the waves of the root tones and several
lower overtones...and the lowest overtones of 64-foot pipes are LFO
frequencies :-) I would love to get this to happen through speakers!
Is there such a thing as a root-tone-based LFO frequency generator ??!?
The happy thing is, we may not need one, raw electroacoustics may do it
for us, if we play the game most carefully.

I am having trouble keeping the overall volume of the instrument down
underneath redline. I did adjust the volumes of all voices downwards,
but I'm still getting +3/+4. These probably need to go further down,
but I wanted to get this to you for more experienced pondering before I
messed with it too much.

It starts to sound pretty good in my headphones, but then again, they're
headphones. I am thinking that it would be helpful to reduce some of
the highs in the lower registers.

Which brings me to a question. Is there a way to tell a voice within an
instrument, that it should only be active in a particular note-range?
This would be a very very good way to design a single large, flexible
instrument. I definitely love large, flexible instruments :-)

This work brings back lots of memories, it has been years. My last
major MiniMoog projects were the most exciting engine-sounds I could
imagine. Several people were convinced that we had a huge engine
running in the music room, senior year. Oddly enough, that was a tone
+noise+LFO project too :-)
