Google lists 3.760 hits for "unmerge", so even if it curls up some linguists' toenails at least it's not an uncommon word. Then again, the most suitable word I found on dict.org is "disunite". Anyway, as long as the name clearly describes what the function is supposed to do I wouldn't spend too many thoughts about whether it's grammatically correct or not. Cheers, Ingo
