I'm circulating this to the wider Reference Group to keep them in the loop.
The meeting was a follow up from the meeting the reference group held with
Clare Marchant and colleagues in the summer. The topics were those proposed
by WCC.
As promised Lynne Green has produced some draft notes and also proposed some
dates to take things forward. there is a commitment to try to engage with a
wider cross section than those who attended this meeting. Please pass this
information to colleagues / through networks.
Gary Roskell has raised concerns about the changed focus - I'm enclosing his

Hi Lynne,
Thanks for the email. It was a positive meeting, but as I said at the
meeting and in my previous email, we did not agree to focus on children with
disabilities. This was not what was discussed with Clare at our initial
meeting, or any subsequent discussions - I'm not sure where that has come
from.
Connecting Families and STP was agreed but the other two areas we agreed
with Clare were:
* Enabling those with disabilities to lead more independent lives -
Jenny Gage / Philip Gerrard + another
* Enabling an older, more fragile population to lead healthier longer,
more independent lives - Philip T, Jim, + another [Kate was subsequently
added]
There was a bit of a debate about whether these two could be combined into a
single theme around enabling independence (see attached email from Michael
from September), and on the agenda for the 15th December meeting it was
labelled as "Cross Age Independence." Somehow that's morphed into children
with disabilities, which isn't the same at all. We need to go back to what
we actually agreed, which was the independent lives agenda for both people
with disabilities and an older population.

Hello,
I would like to thank you for the positive session on 15 December. Some good
feedback was received following the event. Worcestershire County Council are
looking forward to developing a strong partnership and working together
differently to take things forward and improve outcomes. We are currently
investigating opportunities of how we can support exploring the feasibility
of ideas.
I have attached the notes from the meeting, please review and let me have
any comments asap.
It was agreed in the meeting that we would focus on three areas and that we
would ask for members of the VCS to express an interest and get involved
with the group(s) you feel able to contribute to. Note: this invitation is
to the whole Worcestershire VCS not just those invited to the 15 December
session, so how is this best shared with the wider VCS community?
The purpose of the each group is to.
The three focus areas are:
Proposed Date
Develop an ongoing and evolving relationship whereby the VCS and the County
Council in Worcestershire collaborate to achieve better outcomes around the
focus area.
In the first instance, this will include:
* Develop a shared understanding of the need
* Identification of what each party can contribute to developing a
solution(s) to meet this need
* An exploration of potential solutions
* Identify who else needs to be involved
o Connecting Families
16 February - venue tba
o Children with disabilities and transition to adulthood
7 February - venue tba
o Joint influence of STP, this will include:
o Enabling an older, more fragile population to lead healthier longer,
more independent lives
o Social prescribing (to involve CCG
17 February - venue tba
On a more general note, would you please discuss amongst yourselves and
share your views with me on the most appropriate mechanism for
Worcestershire County Council to continue to pursue a strategic conversation
with the VCS.
